inspired

So a couple of weeks ago I went to a R.S. enrichment activity, and was inspired to do lots of things.

One: make homemade wheat bread, which I did. After a couple of months of whining from my husband to use our new wheat grinder, I finally got it out and used it. However I learned at the enrichment activity that practice makes perfect when making bread. Mine didn't raise like it was suppose to, but it tasted fine, so we have 4 flat loafs of wheat bread. Matt is in heaven though! My only complaint is that if practice makes perfect can someone come up with a recipe to make only 1 loaf of bread instead of 4!

Two: buy a better camera. I haven't got the cash to do so, but I am going to start learning all about the SLR cameras while saving my pennies, and I do mean pennies! I get so frustrated with taking pictures and not having the lighting right or not being able to zoom like I want. I do promise to start taking more pictures with the one I have and playing around with it more so that I become familiar with all the modes it has. That should help me better prepare myself too. OH and I want photo shop. I know that is loads of money too, I'll just start saving for that too and maybe by the time I have grand kids I will have a nice camera and program! So really my inspiration from this class was to take more pictures!

Three: blog more for myself and my children. I learned that for like $40 you can get your blog printed and bound. A whole yrs worth of blogs in one book! What a keepsake for my kids! So I will try to be better at recording my families daily happenings. I have such a hard time blogging, because I worry my inability in expressing my thoughts and feelings, but NO MORE. I vow to blog even if i can't express my thoughts and feelings as I would like to.

Four: food storage....need I say more. Matt and I really have been trying hard this summer to build up our food storage, so this was kind of like an up lifter class, if you know what I mean. I got lots of information at this class in pamphlets, which is nice to actually have things in writing. Now all i need is Alli to come and organize me;)

So I had 4 big inspiring classes at this activity, I am so thankful for activities like this that keep me on my toes, and inspire me. (Don't be suprise to see more posts of summer events that need documenting for my kids!)

2 in 1

2 in 1, meaning 2 posts in one! First of all Sara got a hair cut!! (If you don't remember how long her hair was before, look at the last post!) I took of about 2 1/2 inches off. We weren't necessarily going for that much off, but being the wiggle worm that she is, it became straight at that length. We love the new cut, even though it makes her look older. She loves it too! Mom is happy that it is still long enough to curl! Here is the end product soon after the cut.

The 2 of "2 in 1" is that today is picture day at school, and Sara wanted to pick her outfit herself and being the wonderful mom that I am I let her wear it. Okay I'll be honest I wanted her to wear a different color shirt than she picked out, and I fought her as hard as I could, but she won in the end. Usually the background in our school photos is blue so I didn't really want her to wear blue. But she wanted to wear her blue shirt.

Here is her entire outfit that she picked out. I also fought her on wearing her shoes without socks, "but mom they gave me a blister that one time", so hence the socks with shoes.
And of course, we can't take a picture of Sara without taking one of the boys! Every morning Curtis takes his shirt off, because he has to be "strong guy". He got that from Zack earlier this summer. Zack one day decided that in order to be a strong guy he needed to take off his shirt! We have lots of "strong guy" pictures of the two of them. They really are my strong guys though, they help me laugh through the day, which in turn helps me get through my day!

first day of school!

Lets start out by telling a story.... Last fall I was watching "good things Utah" (a TV talk show for Utah....I know only in Ut!) One of the ladies on the show was being really emotional one morning after sending one of her kids to kindergarten for her first time. I was watching and thinking, come on lady pull it together- it's not that big of a deal!!! But oh was I wrong!! What an emotional deal it really is!!! So I apologize to the lady on tv for thinking such mean things about her!
So we go! Sara's first day of kindergarten was Monday. She was very excited and yet a little apprehensive. Last week when we went to meet her teacher she told me on the way in that she didn't think she wanted to go to school anymore. But quickly changed her mind after meeting her teacher...."I can't wait to go to school mommy!"

This was her before school. It was amazing how willing she was to get up and get ready for school this morning! If you know Sara, then you know that she is not a morning person, so this was an amazing event.
Sara and her friend Lexi, who is in her same class. Her Teacher is Mrs. Williams, and she goes in the morning.
We couldn't resist taking a picture us all. I really didn't want to let her go after the picture of the two of us was taken! It seems almost too soon for her to be five and going to school! The thing that makes me the most emotional is that I feel like now that she is in school, before I know it Zack will be too, and then Curtis. It just scares me how quick life is really moving!

Swimming lessons

A few weeks ago Sara and Zack had swimming lessons!! After many attempts to sign them up here in Lehi and American Fork for swimming lessons, we finally gave up and signed them up at the Scera Pool, in Orem. So every morning for 2 weeks we went down to orem for swim lessons. This is the first year that I have sign my kids up for swim lessons, and they LOVED it!! Especially Sara, I should have signed her up for a harder class, because she was constantly trying to swim on her own and couldn't keep her head above water longer than it took to take a breath. Zack was a little shy at first but by the end really loved it!!

Of course I waited till the last day of swimming lessons to take their pictures and Sara was not feeling good that day and had to stay at Gma's while we went so I only have pictures of Zack. I wish I had gotten a picture of Sara jumping off the side of the pool yelling CANNON BOMB. She then throws her feet up and lands bottom first with hand and legs straight up in the air. I really enjoyed watching them everyday, so much more than I thought. I would bring my book to read everyday, however I never picked it up, I couldn't keep my eyes off them! Matt also came everyday the first week and then the last day too! He is the best dad ever!!! He is always so supportive and excited for the kids.
