No deer this year for Matt or his Dad. Jake got his first deer ever and joined the ranks with a calculated 255 yard shot up hill in our favorite spot on Timpanogos. This handsome little buck was taken on the same hillside that all of us brothers and dad shot our first deer...and with the same gun! Grandpa's .243 - "Old Reliable".
This is Michael's spike taken on the last day of the hunt. A flawless 355 yard shot. It was a thing of beauty. All in all it was a super fun hunt.

love the blog update. it looks great. did matt write the deer blog? i am just wondering why you didn't get your deer? you said you knew where it would be :)
We got there 15 minutes late. When it got light we saw some other hunters who were maybe 15 minutes ahead of us up the mountain. We actually watched one of them shoot the buck that we were after. We thought it would be a good idea to wait for light so we didn't jump anything out prematurely. Those other idiots didn't care about that. So they got the reward for being stupid. The crap of it all is that the buck was in the very stand of trees that we expected him to be him. Oh well.
that sucks. looks like you found some other good ones though. that is weird that the deer would be right where you thought, well maybe it isn't. I don't hunt so I don't know, but it seems weird to me the non-hunter:) better luck next time.
