The end of the summer this year we adventured into the world of casts. I have never had a cast before in my life and do not remember any of my siblings ever having casts, but I knew it was inevitable with my children and the way they behave that it was only a matter of time before I would experience a cast. Matt, however, and his brothers all had casts growing up, and multiples of them. So I believe that it comes with the name wirth:)
This summer was curtis turn to have a cast and luckily it was not a major break, in fact only a fracture. He and Sara were sliding down the slide at the neighbors house, and as kids are were trying different ways to slide down it. One of the ways required sitting on the side of the slide and sliding down it. So sara pushed curtis and instead of going down the slide he went off at the top. Which was about a 5ft drop. And thus we have a fractured wrist. which meant 4wks in a cast is all. He spent his first week of kindergarten in his light blue (his favorite color) cast. I was a little worried about it being his right hand, however he just decided to write with his left and now he says he likes to write with both...we may have a left hander here! When he was little and trying to figure out which hand to write with and eat with he did switch back and forth often enough I thought he might use both, but then last year started using just the right. But it might be back to both again.
