raspberry jam

Thanks to my sister heather, i was a little homemaker for a day...we picked raspberries and then made some delicious jam! I love raspberry jam, any berry jam really, but raspberries are my favorite. They remind me of my childhood and Gma Babe.  Gma made Matt and I a dozen jars of freezer raspberry jam for a bridal shower gift.Yum yum.  Matt loves raspberry jam even more than I do and I made him love me just a little bit more this day:)

Our little helpers were Josh and Chloe!  They were fun to have along

book cliffs

Matt finally drew a tag this year to the book cliffs after 9 years of putting in. He had a hard time deciding whether or not to put in for the bow hunt (which would be his first bow hunt) or putting in for the rifle hunt. He chose bow, which made the hunt this year in August, rather than October. Although Gpa Blaine drew out this year as well for the book cliffs for rifle hunting so they will be going back down in October! This is one of Matt's all time favorite things to do...hunt. He loves being in the mountains and spending this time with his dad and brothers...and this year his brother-in-law too! Those who were able to go on this years hunt were Matt, Blaine, Michael, and Scott. Here are the pics:

first cast

The end of the summer this year we adventured into the world of casts. I have never had a cast before in my life and do not remember any of my siblings ever having casts, but I knew it was inevitable with my children and the way they behave that it was only a matter of time before I would experience a cast. Matt, however, and his brothers all had casts growing up, and multiples of them. So I believe that it comes with the name wirth:)
This summer was curtis turn to have a cast and luckily it was not a major break, in fact only a fracture. He and Sara were sliding down the slide at the neighbors house, and as kids are were trying different ways to slide down it. One of the ways required sitting on the side of the slide and sliding down it. So sara pushed curtis and instead of going down the slide he went off at the top. Which was about a 5ft drop. And thus we have a fractured wrist. which meant 4wks in a cast is all. He spent his first week of kindergarten in his light blue (his favorite color) cast. I was a little worried about it being his right hand, however he just decided to write with his left and now he says he likes to write with both...we may have a left hander here! When he was little and trying to figure out which hand to write with and eat with he did switch back and forth often enough I thought he might use both, but then last year started using just the right. But it might be back to both again.
Not once did this kid complain or whine about his cast. In fact I think he loved it! He had all of his friends and family sign it!

new school year

First of all we got a new computer!! YEAH! so now I can start posting again!
Here are the pictures from the first day of school! Sara is now in 3rd, Zack is in 1st, and Curtis is in Kindergarten!
Curtis wrote his with his left hand, because of the cast. But it really isn't too far off from what it would look like with his right :)
It has been alot easier for me to send my kids to school this year than any other year. Maybe it was because they were so excited or because they are older and I'm more use to it. who knows?
